Mat Court
Independent Councillor working for
Our Brightlingsea.

My three pillars of service:
Transparency
It is not their fault, but I think too many people around town don’t know who does what. I want to change this so we’re all more engaged and involved.
Creativity
“We’ve always done it this way” is no longer a valid answer. The same goes for “no”. Let’s look at the issues differently and get better results.
Hard Work
I am not afraid of putting the hard graft to do what the Town wants me to do – if you vote for me I promise to work as hard as I can.
I might have lost the TDC election, but we had a good go at it didn’t we? I am still trying to give Brightlingsea the loudest possible voice at all levels while continuing my work on the Town Council
Mat Court, Independent Councillor

Mat and Brightlingsea Town Council
I have been a Town Councillor since May 2021 when I was co-opted to fill a vacancy on the Council. I feel I have proven myself to be a useful addition to the Council.
Mat and Tendring District Council
I ran for Tendring District Council to give Brightlingsea a stronger voice in the decisions that affect our Town. As one of the three Councillors representing Brightlingsea, I wanted to fight for our fair share of resources and services. While I wasn’t successful (I was fourth) it doesn’t mean I can’t keep trying to get Brightlingsea the best deal possible, I’m just not paid for it that’s all 🤣

“Six years ago, my family and I made the decision to call Brightlingsea home and we quickly realised that it was the best decision we could have ever made. Brightlingsea has given us so much and now, following a great two years as a Town Councillor, I want to give back to the Town by representing you on Tendring District Council as well. As a Councillor, I will work tirelessly to ensure that Brightlingsea gets its fair share from Tendring. I will be the voice for our residents, fighting for the resources and services that we need to thrive. Together, we can make Our Brightlingsea an even better place to call home. Join me in this campaign for a brighter and more prosperous Brightlingsea. Vote for me on 4th May.”

Who does what ↗
It might be a little confusing as to why one person is standing for in two elections at the same time, this section explains why it’s needed, and what both the Town and District Councils do for us.
